about stephen ministry

Stephen Ministers volunteer to work alongside our pastors to care for people who are going through a difficult time, such as divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation, chronic illness or loneliness.

Trainees receive 50 hours of specialized training in Christian care giving and participate in a team of active Stephen Ministers to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to people experiencing a crisis. We meet weekly with our care receiver for around an hour to listen, care, encourage, pray and provide emotional and spiritual support for them. Caring relationships last for as long as the person’s need persists.

After training, Stephen Ministers meet on the first and third Mondays of each month for Continuing Education and Peer Supervision. All training materials are provided free of charge.
