I am keenly aware of the difference a day makes. My whole life, as I knew it, was swept away one horrible night in April… I lost my 38-year-old husband, my first love at 15, my partner in marriage at 30, and my best friend. An extraordinary beautiful man went to sleep, his heart stopped, and he never woke up. I was then forced to choose myself - whether to wake up or not.
The bulk of this project was recorded live over three evenings on the year anniversary of Brent’s passing. The intention was to capture truth both in song and in sound... It's production is not glossy and polished, rather it is real and vulnerable - which only highlights the quality and skill of the artists involved as it is musically and artistically solid. Many comment that this album is both haunting and ineffably comforting at the same time... That is the paradox of a grief that awakens. I hope it somehow gives that gift to those who take the time to listen and enter the story of another broken human being saved by grace.
