Marriage: Built to Last

Leaders: Bev and Barry Marler (720-300-8405; bbmarler@comcast.net)

Meetings: Wednesday evenings starting February 15 (6 weeks)

Marriage is life’s most challenging and rewarding relationship. This course is an opportunity to take your marriage deeper through better communication and understanding. Experienced couples group leaders Barry and Bev Marler will lead this study using a popular DVD series. This Christ-centered group starts Feb. 15. Each gathering will include time to get acquainted, a short video excerpt, reflection and discussion, Scripture focus, and personal application time for couples. All couples are invited – young, mature, newly married, old-timers, second marriages, engaged, etc.

About the leaders:  Barry & Bev Marler lead a small group on marriage.  They are not marriage counselors but have a passion for seeking God's will in keeping marriage relationships strong in the modern world that does not always value marriage.  The Marlers have become members of BUMC in the past year.   Barry is retired from the business world and Bev retired from teaching and serving as Director of Children's Ministries.  Barry loves golf, watercolor painting, travel and reading.  Bev is a musician and CASA volunteer.  They both adore their three grown children, their spouses and nine grandchildren.

From Barry and Bev Marler: “We don’t want to say we will teach, or even lead, the group. We will learn from one another. We are passionate about Christian marriage and our goal is building a marriage for ourselves that is built to last. We recognize, as with any building project, marriage takes effort. There may be patterns from the past that we have to break. We may have to go against the version of marriage that the culture exposes us to. Maybe we need to have the courage to say that what we’re currently doing isn’t working. We don’t have it all figured out. We have learned to be thankful for our heritage, to be observers of other marriages ahead of us in the journey, and to be intentional about our purpose as a couple.”

Give your spouse a Valentine’s Day gift that will last by participating in this group!
